About Smart Start, Bright Future Initiative

The Lake County Smart Start, Bright Future initiative is a four pillar transformational initiative that supports the youth located on the South Shore of Lake County from birth to graduation and beyond! The four pillars include the Lake FRC Smart Start, Bright Future 

Lake Family Resource Center (Lake FRC), in partnership with HOPE Rising, has staffed a Smart Start, Bright Future Navigator. The Lake FRC Smart Start, Bright Future navigator will connect new mothers who opt-in to the program by phone at predetermined intervals in the first year of the new baby’s life to assess overall developmental progress, and work to identify:  symptoms of postpartum depression, need for assistance with concrete supports, referral to additional community resources, identify intensive case management, and in-home visit specialist’s, evidence-based parenting, child development curriculum, and include specialized training to serve those with perinatal substance use disorder.
